3 Small Wins for: ‘Improving your Attention Span’
02/03/2026
Happy Monday!
Blending 3 of our pillars, Community + Connection, Introspection + Reflection, Presence + Gratitude, we bring you 3 small prompts that help you to find more joy in your everyday. 1 community celebration, 1 question to ask yourself and 1 action for you to take…
1 Celebration:
Community and Connection
Researchers at Johns Hopkins Medicine have just published scientific research showing that a specific type of attention training was linked to a 25% lower risk of dementia years later. In short, the participants completed a digital exercise where they had to quickly spot visual targets on a screen while ignoring distractions in their peripheral vision. The tasks gradually increased in speed and difficulty, forcing the brain to process information faster and stay focused.
This shows small, deliberate exercises in focus can compound into measurable long term brain health benefits. Improving your attention span is not just about productivity, it can actually be to protect your brain.
1 Question:
Introspection and Reflection
Do you think you are really struggling to focus because of dopamine and social media, or are you blaming these things for something a little deeper? There is the possibility that maybe social media is not destroying your attention, just exposing how uncomfortable you are with boredom and stillness. Is the actual issue stimulation or avoidance of your own thoughts?
1 Action:
Presence and Gratitude
Sit with seven minutes of intentional stillness today. Start your phones timer and sit with it. No phone or music. Nothing. Just notice the urge to escape / do something and practice staying in this mode anyway. It wont cure or ‘fix’ your attention span but might help you to observe where your mind wanders…
See you next week :)
