3 Small Wins for: 'The Courage to Start Something'

02/03/2026

Happy Monday!

Blending 3 of our pillars, Community + Connection, Introspection + Reflection, Presence + Gratitude, we bring you 3 small prompts that help you to find more joy in your everyday. 1 community celebration, 1 question to ask yourself and 1 action for you to take…

1 Celebration:

Community and Connection

During last year's Boston Marathon, There was a runner called Pedro Arieta. He was within sight of the finish line, on for a personal best of 2:40, when he spotted a fellow runner collapse in front of him. Although dozens of elite athletes ran straight past, Pedro stopped.

He helped the runner who fell, called Shawn Goodwin, back to his feet and stayed with him all the way to the finish line, sacrificing his own time in the process. This went viral online during and shortly after the event. Pedro wrote afterwards: "It was impossible to run past someone who needed help reaching their dream finish line."

That act of sportsmanship became one of the most viewed moments from the entire event. Even though this is not a newsletter about running, this sort of win is really nice to highlight as it keeps what is important at the front of our minds.

1 Question:

Introspection and Reflection

There is a version of pain, fear, or difficulty that you experience that gets louder with the more attention you give it.

This week's question:

What are you feeding that you could choose to starve? Very cryptic ooo…

This might be a worry, a story you keep telling yourself, or a thought that has been running on loop. You do not have to fix it. When you answer this question, just notice how much space you are giving this thing.

1 Action:

Presence and Gratitude

Pick one thing this week that you have been putting off because it feels too big or too uncertain. Just do the first step. One conversation or one signup or even one message sent.

Usually we find that the finish line sorts itself out. The start line is the one you actually control.

This week's episode is out now. Charlie and Dr Marcus take you through every stage of their Ultramarathon, The National Forest Way Ultra 75, from the 5am start to crossing the finish line at sunrise.

See you next week :)
